UPDATE: Version 1.0.1 is now LIVE! Including 20 new images for the Wild West scene bringing the total number of images to 63. With these new images walk the muddy streets of the real-life town of Deadwood, view frontier family life from 1876, and much more!

Step back in time and immerse yourself in a unique blend of history and technology with a groundbreaking VR app that brings Victorian stereoscopic images to life on the modern Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3 headsets. The images were taken over 100 years ago using similar techniques to those used today resulting in full 3D VR images when viewed in the headset. Meticulously hand-restored and expertly aligned for optimal viewing comfort, these captivating images will take you on a mesmerizing journey through four distinct scenes: a Wild West frontier, a bustling cityscape, an industrial dockside, and the intimate setting of a Victorian home.

Each scene is carefully curated to transport you to a different environment, allowing you to explore the intricate details of these historical images in a way that was never before possible. As you navigate through the galleries, the immersive audio and surrounding scene enhances the experience, drawing you deeper into the rich tapestry of the past. Original text from the Stereocards accompanies the images providing historical context and enriching your understanding of the time period, while adding layers of depth to your exploration. The app now features 63 carefully curated images, with more to be added in future free updates.

I am a solo developer with a passion for VR photography, and I became captivated by the sheer amount of Victorian Stereocards available. Sadly my first attempts to view these in my VR headset showed that many were poorly aligned and made for uncomfortable or even impossible viewing experiences. Some images viewed in VR were eye-boggling, even with basic straightening and cropping. I spent over a year performing my own research and eventually developing my own tool for aligning and cropping these images so that they are comfortable to view in VR. The unpleasant experience of misaligned images didn’t take away from the amazement I found viewing other images in full in my headset. Seeing famous figures of the past, or iconic scenes such as workers precariously balanced on girders high above New York – but in 3D! The feeling of being a time traveler stood on a bustling Victorian street – and picking up on things, not from a History book, but from feeling like you are there in person.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a lover of art and photography, or simply someone seeking a truly unique VR experience, our app offers something for everyone.

Prepare to be transported across time and space as you embark on a journey unlike any other. With our VR app, history comes alive in ways you never thought possible, inviting you to step into the past and witness its wonders firsthand. Don’t just observe history – experience it in all its glory with our innovative and immersive VR experience.
